Description: This course will focus on program integrity and the serious deficiency process. In determining a child care facility’s eligibility for participation in the CACFP, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of Community Food and Nutrition Assistance must assess three things about each potential center’s overall management: the center’s financial viability, capability, and accountability.

Objectives:
• An explanation of program integrity and how program integrity is assessed for both new CACFP centers and for centers already participating in the CACFP.
• The key components of program integrity: financial viability, capability, and accountability.
• The different types of monitoring review visits.
• The serious deficiency process, such as, looking at what types of findings rise to the level of a serious deficiency, proposed termination, and disqualification.
• The appeal process and actions that are appealable by the center.
